Reviewer Guideline

Instructions of Reviewers

Applications to become a reviewer for The International Journal of Sexual Science can be submitted through the provided link. Upon accepting an invitation to review, reviewers can access assigned manuscripts by logging into their user accounts. Under the “My Queue” section, reviewers will find the files for the manuscripts they are assigned to. These files may include data such as tables, figures, and images. Reviews must be submitted by completing the journal’s evaluation form, available in the evaluation section of the journal's website. The form, organized into topic-based sections, includes a text box at the end where reviewers can provide detailed recommendations or comments addressed to the Editor and/or the author.

When providing recommendations to authors, reviewers should remain objective and constructive, offering feedback that helps authors improve their manuscripts. Criticisms should be precise and supported with relevant references, avoiding any personal remarks. Reviewers are expected to provide fair and impartial feedback on the manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses. Suggestions for language and tone should focus on improving clarity. When recommending additional research, reviewers must distinguish between essential changes to support the manuscript’s claims and optional enhancements to strengthen or broaden the study. If the study lacks clarity due to insufficient analyses, reviewers should suggest specific improvements without extending the study beyond its intended scope.

The journal expects reviewers to evaluate submitted manuscripts based on various criteria, including study design, structure, the adequacy of applied methods, sample criteria, statistical analyses, consistency of table data with research findings, adequacy and use of references, and the manuscript’s contribution to literature.
